We warrant all of our products to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of delivery. We do not warrant against normal wear and tear, or damage due to customer accident or misuse. There is no warranty against loss of any part of your jewelry, stone, metal, etc. Warranty does not apply to estate jewelry or to any merchandise sold "as-is" or as a "final sale". Although the labor cost of the repair itself might be free, depending on our warranty designation (see below), the cost of replaced stones or missing parts will be charged at our cost.
All items will be free from any manufacturing defects at the time of delivery. A member of our quality-control staff personally inspects every item prior to shipment, so it is very unlikely to be anything less than perfect. In the event that there is ever a problem with your jewelry, it can be mailed back to us for inspection. We will refund the shipping cost back to us and will ship the item back to you at our expense ONLY if any we designate the repair to be "manufacturing defect". This is a rare condition and simply means that our quality control did not notice the defect prior to item being shipped. Any alterations (such as sizing) performed after delivery, even done by Steven kirsch Inc. void any warranty.
If the defect is revealed while the item is being worn we will NOT refund the money you paid to ship it to us, We will however repair the item for free and will pay return shipping. Warranty does not apply to any damages stemming from regular wear.
If jewelry is worn, misshaped or has defects/lost stones resulted from abuse or pro longed wear we'll attempt to repair and correct problems at a minimal cost. Any repair related to wear and tear or repair of an item that has under gone a stress of wear, item that was sized or repaired previously (even by us) will be done for a fee and all shipping costs are customer's responsibility.

We have a right to refuse such a repair. Any shipping charges will be customer's responsibility. We return repairs by ground shipment, you have an option to pay the difference if you want faster service. We will pay for domestic shipping only, all international shipping is solely customer's responsibility. Natural variations in products made in whole or in part of natural materials, such as gemstones are not considered defects. Handmade products will generally vary in color or texture. The appearance may vary on metal surfaces, particularly those applied by hand such as *antique* style finishes. Metal may stain, scratch, crack or discolor.
The customer must exercise proper care to minimize any such damage. Additionally the insurance and protection of your merchandise is solely your responsibility, and Steven Kirsch, Inc. shall not be held liable for any loss, theft, or resulting damages what so ever that may occur, even during the one year warranty period.
Your valuable stones are safe with us.
In addition to insurance coverage under our standard “jeweler’s block” policy which is benchmark coverage carried by any reputable jeweler, we are insured against work damage.Your stones are covered (with certain limitations and restrictions, of course) for loss or damage while they are in our possession and while we work on them. This is a relatively new protection for our customers, since in the past it was impossible to obtain coverage for damage incurred while working on a stone. Partly due to our outstanding reputation and partly because of greater insurance flexibility generated under current market conditions, our carrier agreed to add such a “bench” clause to our coverage.
As important as insurance policies are (despite their many disclaimers and restrictions), you can set you mind at ease because of our experience, skills, and reputation. Be assured that your valuable jewelry is in safe hands at Steven Kirsch, Inc. Our master craftsmen, designers, and technicians have compiled an outstanding record: so far, only minor incidents involving nothing more than a few scratches on extremely soft stones like aquamarine or emerald have occurred. (Scratches like these are unfortunate of course, but they are easily corrected by polishing with minimal or no weight loss.). Having set hundreds of stones, valued at millions of dollars, without incident, we have earned an outstanding and well-deserved reputation for high quality, extraordinary value, and safety. We are proud to stand behind our work so that you can trust us now and in the future.
Please pack your items securely. We recommend the following procedures:
We usually use FedEx to ship to you (due to a special arrangement through our MJSA membership). We ship only “priority, overnight.” Saturday delivery by FedEx is unavailable for items valued at more than $2,000. Items valued at more than $50,000 must be shipped via Brinks, Malca-Amit, or by courier.
These carriers do not deliver to private addresses; so you must either use a business address or pick up your package at their office. Since there are very few office locations for these carriers outside major metropolitan areas, delivery to rural areas is always problematic. International shipment to you is possible only via Malca-Amit or Brinks. All tariffs, taxes, dues, surcharges, tips, etc., are your responsibility.
Taxes on jewelry shipped to the UK (as well as to other countries in the European Union) from the US may vary widely. They are your responsibility to determine before ordering. All goods imported into the UK from the US, including goods purchased online, are subject to Import Duty: As of Oct. 20, 2003, import duty on gold jewelry is 2.5% of the declared value of the goods PLUS the transport costs to the country of destination.
Value Added Tax (VAT): currently 17.5% of declared value, PLUS the transport costs to the country of destination, PLUS the Import Duty.
Customs Clearance Fees: Your carrier or import agent (including Royal Mail or Parcel Force) may also charge fees to clear your items through customs. These fees range from about £4.00 (Royal Mail) to about £8.00 (Parcel Force) and should be added after the above taxes.
Please DO NOT attempt to avoid paying proper taxes, dues, or fees.
Prior to shipping, we will contact you to confirm your address, shipping method, and the dollar amount for appropriate insurance coverage. If you choose to waive insurance coverage (beware: your home insurance might not cover such losses), we will require a written release from you.
All orders are processed and shipped as soon as your payment is cleared by our bank. We will notify you by e-mail within one business day if an in-stock order cannot be shipped.
Because we do not ship on Saturday or Sunday, orders placed after 3:00 p.m. on Thursdays will not be shipped until the following Monday. If it is absolutely critical that your order arrive by a specific date, call us at (212) 221-9392, Monday – Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
We will be happy to assist you in recommending the fastest time and method for delivery.
You have five days from the day you receive a purchased stone to inspect it. In order to retain the stone for inspection up to 30 days, you must pay a $1,000 retainer fee to be used toward custom work by Steven Kirsch, Inc. We will refund the full cost of a stone, excluding the cost of shipping, within 30 days from the date of purchase. Once the work order for custom work is signed, the stone can be returned within 30 days for store credit only. In that event, you are still responsible for the full cost of the custom mounting. All items submitted for return must be in their original state and condition. Should their original state and condition be altered in any way, the return will not be permitted. We assume no liability for and are held harmless from any loss of uninsured merchandise during the return process.
Custom work, special orders, personalised or engraved items cannot be returned or refunded.
We allow 7 days for return of a stocked item for a refund, minus a 20% restocking fee, or for exchange for another stocked item of equal or greater value.
Any loose diamond purchased from Steven Kirsch Inc., maybe exchanged for a 100% credit toward any replacement diamond at least 50% greater in value. The diamond being exchanged for upgrade must be in its original state and condition and must be accompanied by its original laboratory grading document.
If you have a diamond of any size and cut that you would like to sell, even though you did not purchase it from us, please contact us for a free purchase quote.
